Combination boiler
A Combination Boiler combines both central heating and water heating in a self contained unit. This type of system does not require a hot water cylinder or cold water tank. IXIA and KYRA Thermostatic showers are recommended for use with combination boilers for safe showering, they compensate for fluctuations in water pressure i.e. when another Shower or Tap is used. This type of system does not require a hot water cylinder or cold water tank; it is a good example of an *Indirect Central Heating System. (* Water is re-circulated within the system to heat Radiators and domestic hot water via the Heat Exchanger inside the Combination Boiler). Combination boilers usually feature a gauge on their front face this shows the internal pressure of the boiler not the cold mains water pressure. Combination boilers are suitable for all IXIA / KYRA Rain Shower Heads. Please note: The average cold water mains pressure in the UK is 3 bar, it is advisable to check your cold water pressure. |

Unvented Pressurised hot water cylinder
Cold water is fed direct from the mains whilst also pressurising hot water cylinder, supplying large volumes of high pressure hot water ideal for shower systems with body jets. IXIA and KYRA Thermostatic showers are recommended for use with Unvented Pressurised hot water cylinders for safe showering, they compensate for fluctuations in water pressure i.e. when another Shower or Tap is used. Some Unvented cylinders take the water expansion internally e.g. Megaflo. Please note: The average cold water mains pressure in the UK is 3 bar, it is advisable to check your cold water pressure. The hot water is usually set on these systems at 3 bar. |

Gravity Hot and ColdLow Pressure: NOT RECOMMENDED. Cold water tank is normally located in the loft feeding a hot water cylinder usually in an airing cupboard. Note: This system can be converted to High Pressure by installing a installing a Twin Shower Pump. Good quality Shower Pumps such as the Techflow Turbo range can be used to boost the hot and cold tank fed water pressures to Bathroom Taps as well as Showers. |

Hot gravity and cold mainsLow Pressure: NOT RECOMMENDED Cold water tank is normally located in the loft feeding a hot water cylinder usually in an airing cupboard. However it differs from the hot and cold gravity system as cold water comes direct from the mains causing an imbalance in water pressures, making mixers noisy and difficult to control. The Hot water pressure can be calculated by measuring the vertical distance from the bottom of the cold water tank to the Shower Head or wash basin tap. E.g. Vertical distance of 2 metres from bottom of cold water tank to the Shower Head = 0.2 bar which is LOW PRESSURE and not recommended for IXIA and KYRA products. Note: This system can be converted to High Pressure by installing a installing a Twin Shower Pump. |
